Dancing in My Socks

Sad news: Pat McMinn passed away on 21 March 2018. She was probably New Zealand’s busiest vocalist in the early 1950s, in concert and on recordings. In fact, she had been in constant demand since winning the Dixieland cabaret’s talent quest in 1942, aged 15. She is best known for two recordings that have rarely been off the airwaves since they were made in the 1950s: The single ‘Opo the Crazy Dolphin’ and the perennial advertising jingle for Geddes dentures.

I have expanded the profile of Pat on the AudioCulture page, and also added another pages of photos and comments from our 2007 interview in Pat McMinn: tap dance to Tanza. Among the new photos is this one of Pat, centre, with other dancers at the Trocadero Club on Queen Street, Auckland, during the Second World WAr.
